Posing Peacocks — or — Peacocks Posing

The peacocks were freely roaming the grounds of Old Spencer Mill and there were only a handful of us shooting that day.  So tame were the peacocks that we could get within a few feet before they would move.  It was fun to get the portraits, but I really wanted the traditional fanning feathers shot.  Maybe next time!

Love the definition you got on the first one! Where did you find them? Were they wild?

Wonderful shots of this interesting birds. One thing I have been working on this summer is paying attention to DOF on bird shots, especially when trying to get a matched pair. Your first shot is wonderful and a increased DOF would have got the comb in detail also. You may have to sacrifice shutter or ISO to get the result but that is the excitement of it!
