The peacocks were freely roaming the grounds of Old Spencer Mill and there were only a handful of us shooting that day. So tame were the peacocks that we could get within a few feet before they would move. It was fun to get the portraits, but I really wanted the traditional fanning feathers shot. Maybe next time!

Wonderful shots of this interesting birds. One thing I have been working on this summer is paying attention to DOF on bird shots, especially when trying to get a matched pair. Your first shot is wonderful and a increased DOF would have got the comb in detail also. You may have to sacrifice shutter or ISO to get the result but that is the excitement of it!
