“Congratulations, one or more  of your photos has been accepted into the Paducah Photo ‘09 exhibition at the Yeiser Art Center.  To determine which piece(s) were chosen, please go to the home page of  www.paducahphoto.com and click on the button labeled “2009 Accepted Entries.”

This piece, “Blue Flow,” and the others selected from submitted entries by other various artists will be will be featured in the Yeiser Art Center from July 17th through August 29th. The opening reception will take place on July 18th from 5-7pm, where critiques will be given and awards presented.

And, yes friends, this is my first piece “juried” into an exhibition, much less a National Juried Photography Art Exhibition. My goal was to have at least one piece make the cut.  I met that goal.  Whew!

Guess I’d better get busy getting it framed and ready for the Yeiser:)

Happy Father’s Day, Daddy

June 21, 2009 · 12 Comments

“My father didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.” ~ Clarence Budington Kelland

“Good parents give their children Roots and Wings. Roots to know where home is, wings to fly away and exercise what’s been taught them.”- Jonas Salk

How true Daddy’s words were when he said: “All children must look after their own upbringing.” Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands. – Anne Frank

You Are Beautiful

Stencil Graffiti.

Even in little old Paducah!

(As always, you may click to view larger.)

I knew these existed in Paducah, but I could never spot one.  This one was in a nearly hidden location; very subtle and not “in your face.”

Now my challenge will be to find MORE!  :)

Hi Ho, Hi Ho!

June 18, 2009 · 12 Comments

It’s off to work and school they go…..

I love to visit my son’s family!  I learn so much about them.

Like — “Beep beep.”

That started when they had the dogs, Lucy and Annie.  If one of the dogs would get in their way in the kitchen, one would just say “Beep beep” and the dogs would move.  Clever, huh?

Yes, now the kids will do the same thing!

Or –  “Teeth, teeth.”

Both of the boys (believe it or not) get really excited about brushing their teeth.  They know it’s part of the bedtime routine as well as one of the last things they do in the morning before school.

And, speaking of school.  I love watching the boys put on their shoes, grab their lunch and backback, and line up at the door — ready and excited for each day and the adventures it brings.

After a quick hug and kiss from each one, I smile and say “I love you.  Have a great day.”  And think silently to myself  “I am sooooooo fortunate to have such a great family.”

Fellow Photography Bloggers Meet — Live and In Person!

June 17, 2009 · 4 Comments

I read on Suzanne’s blog that she was in Paducah.  Wait a minute, I thought.  Sounds like we need to get together and meet in person!

I have viewed and enjoyed Suzanne’s blog for quite some time, and we had communicated a few times via Email….just like I have with several of my blogging friends.  But, to think that we might get the opportunity to meet in person was simply very exciting!

Her visit to Paducah was brief.  You can read about her travels throughout the United States on her blog and you will understand why she was passing through.  But our quick meet up was nice.

After the initial awkward cell phone conversation where I said “I’m the one in the pink shirt waving at you,” the rest of the visit was just like old friends visiting — sharing photography stories, family stories, travel stories.   Well, you get the picture.

Speaking of pictures, we talked Suzanne’s husband into taking a picture of us…..

Thanks Suzanne for taking time to meet with me during your brief Paducah visit.  I so enjoyed meeting you and David.

Safe travels as you weave your way through the United States.  I’ll look forward to more photos of your journey!
